Track Banner performance — views, click-throughs, and dismissals — from the Banner analytics page and Events Explorer. Export data as CSV for reporting outside of Appcues.

                    Open the Banner analytics page

                    1. In Appcues Studio, go to Experiences > Banners.
                    2. Click the Banner you want to analyze.
                    3. Select the Analytics tab.

The analytics page shows your key Banner events over time, charted by daily unique users in your local time zone. Use the date range selector at the top to narrow the view, or apply a segment filter to compare performance across audiences. You can also view the publish history of the Banner.

                    Chart

The chart plots Banner events over time. Hover over a data point to see the full breakdown of views and clicks for that day. Data is charted by daily unique users, not total event count.

                    Scoreboard

The scoreboard displays three key metrics:

                    • Banner Seen — total times shown and unique users who saw the Banner.
                    • Banner Click-Throughs — generated when a user clicks a button or link in the Banner.
                    • Banner Dismissed — generated when a user clicks the dismiss X.

                    View recent users

The Recent Users section lists the 10 most recent users who saw the Banner, along with the date and time. Click any user to open their user profile with full attribute details.

                    Use Events Explorer

Events Explorer provides an alternative view of Banner data with more granular filtering.

                    1. Go to Events Explorer.
                    2. In the Event Source dropdown, select Banner Events.
                    3. Click a Banner to see its events broken down by unique users seeing the Banner and total click-throughs.
                    4. Click an individual event to view its chart, total and unique event counts, and a searchable table of all triggered events.

                    Export Banner data

                    Export from the analytics page

                    1. On the Banner analytics page, set the date range you want.
                    2. Click the Export CSV button.

The CSV includes one row per event, with the event name in the name column.

                    Export from Events Explorer

                    1. In Events Explorer, select the specific event you want to export.
                    2. Set the date range.
                    3. Click the export button.

The CSV includes only the selected event type (e.g., step_interaction for click-throughs).

                    Banner events reference

These are the event names you see in CSV exports and in integrations. They can also be exported via the Public API.

                    Event name Description
experience_started The Banner is displayed on screen
step_seen The Banner became visible to the user
step_interaction The user clicked a link or button inside the Banner
experience_dismissed The user dismissed the Banner by clicking X
step_completed The user dismissed the Banner and the step completed
experience_completed The user dismissed the Banner and it is marked completed

If the data doesn't look right

                    • Confirm the Banner is published and that your date range covers the period when it was live.
                    • If you see zero views, verify that the Banner's page and audience targeting match the expected users — open the Appcues Debugger to confirm Appcues is loading on the page.
                    • Click-through data only appears when users interact with a button or link. If you have no buttons, you will not see click-through events.
                    • If the issue persists, collect the Banner ID, the date range in question, and a screenshot of the analytics page, then contact support.
