Troubleshoot Studio Access and Login Issues
Quick fixes for common login and access issues
Table of Contents
If Appcues Studio isn't loading, the UI is unresponsive, or you're seeing a trial signup screen instead of your account, this guide covers the most common causes and how to fix them.
Quick checks
- Try a different browser (Firefox, Edge, or Safari if you're on Chrome).
- Open Studio in a private/incognito window.
- Confirm you're signing in with the same email address that was invited to your team.
Cause 1: Studio UI is unresponsive
You can see Studio but can't click buttons, navigate, or interact with any elements or you're seeing an error when attempting to login. The page appears frozen or you see an error saying “This page isn't working".
- Hard-reload the page. Press
Ctrl+Shift+R(Windows/Linux) orCmd+Shift+R(Mac) to bypass the browser cache. - Clear your browser cache and cookies for
studio.appcues.com. In Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Delete browsing data > select Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data > delete. - Disable all browser extensions. Extensions — especially ad blockers, privacy tools, and other script-blocking extensions — can interfere with Studio's rendering. Disable them all, then reload Studio.
- Open Studio in a private/incognito window. This runs without extensions or cached data. If Studio works in incognito, a browser extension or cached data is the cause.
- Try a different browser entirely. If Studio works in another browser, the issue is specific to your primary browser's cache, extensions, or settings.
Confirm: Studio loads and you can click buttons, navigate between pages, and open the Flow builder.
Cause 2: Trial expired message on an existing account
You're seeing the Appcues trial signup screen even though your organization already has an active account. This happens when your user session isn't linked to your team's account.
- Confirm that you're in the correct account. Click Settings > Team and verify if your teammates display as well.
- If they don't, you're likely in the wrong account.
- To switch, click Settings > Switch Accounts and pick your company's account in the dialog.
Confirm: After signing in, you see your team's account with your existing Flows and settings — no trial message.
Cause 3: Studio fails to load entirely
The page is blank, shows a loading spinner indefinitely, or returns a network error.
- Check your internet connection by loading another website.
- Verify that your network isn't blocking Appcues domains. Studio requires access to:
*.appcues.com*.appcues-static.com
- If your organization uses a corporate proxy, VPN, or firewall, ask your IT team to allow-list the domains above. Content Security Policy (CSP) restrictions or network-level filtering can block Studio's scripts from loading.
- Check for browser console errors. Open Developer Tools (
F12orCmd+Option+Ion Mac), go to the Console tab, and look for red error messages. Network errors or blocked requests indicate a connectivity or CSP issue.
Confirm: Studio loads fully and displays your account dashboard.
