Build a Funnel
Track how users progress through a sequence of steps and find where they drop off
Table of Contents
Funnels show how users move through a sequence of events — so you can spot where they drop off, measure conversion between steps, and export user lists for follow-up. You can combine experience events, email events, push events, and custom track events in a single funnel.
To get started, go to Metrics > Funnels.

Steps to build a Funnel
- Click New Funnel (or open an existing one from the Funnels page).
- Click Add event to add your first step. Choose from experience events, email events, push events, or application/track events.

- Click Add event again to add each additional step. Funnels measure completion in sequence — step 1 → step 2 → step 3, and so on.

- Set the Conversion window. This is the maximum time allowed between the first and last step. Pick a window that matches the behavior you expect:
- Minutes to hours for tightly coupled flows (e.g., a multi-step form).
- Days for onboarding or adoption journeys.

- Set the Timeframe (date range) at the top of the page. This controls when step 1 must have occurred.
- Optionally, filter by User segment to limit the funnel to a subset of users. Segment membership is evaluated based on current membership, not membership at the time of the event.
The funnel chart updates to show how many users reached each step, along with conversion and drop-off rates between steps.
See who converted or dropped off
Click into any step to open the user list. You can toggle between Converted and Dropped off users.
From the user list, you can:
- Search for a specific user.
- Sort by when the user completed the event.
- Export the list as a
.csvfile.

Revisit saved Funnels
Funnels you create are saved automatically. Return to Metrics > Funnels to find them.

Confirm it worked
You've built a funnel successfully when the chart displays conversion and drop-off counts for each step. If you see 0 users at step 1, check that the event is firing and that the date range covers a period with activity.
Common questions
Does the funnel require events to happen in order?
Yes. Funnels measure completion across steps in strict sequence.
Can I mix different event types in one funnel?
Yes. A single funnel can include experience events, goal events, email events, push events, and custom track events.
What's the difference between the date range and the conversion window?
The date range controls when step 1 must happen. The conversion window controls how long users have to reach the last step after completing step 1.
What conversion window should I choose?
Match it to the real-world behavior you're tracking. Use a short window (minutes to hours) for tightly coupled Flows, and a longer window (days) for onboarding or adoption journeys.
